Most people don’t know who they are.
That is a strange statement but unfortunately true. Most clients who come to me suffer from an identity crisis. They have spent their whole life trying to please others and somewhere in the midst of everything, they have forgotten to please their self. The self that they had before they were born and the self that is lost, buried deep in their subconscious waiting to be rediscovered.
Are you struggling to find meaning in your life?
Are you always rushing around helping others and failing to help yourself? In your search for meaning are you left frustrated and empty?
Beneath the many layers of conditioned thoughts, emotions and habits of living on this earth, you have a True Self. This True Self is the self you were born with. This True Self could be called your soul, your original self, your observing self or your real self. It has many names, but essentially your True Self is your inner essence, your truth and your deepest, purest feelings.
If you listen very carefully you will hear your True self speak to you quietly about who you are and what you really want to do with your life, so why aren’t you listening?
When you were born you were fully connected with your True Self. But as you grew older, you conformed to worldly ways and tucked your True Self into the farthest corner of your psyche, deep into your unconscious.
This True Self comes to the fore now and then, when you are following your heart’s desire.
If you are not in touch with this true and real part of yourself, life will hold no meaning for you.
A life with no meaning is not a life worth having.
You can be loved for being just as you are. If you have to pretend to be someone you are not to gain someone’s love then frankly it is not worth it.
I find it tiring listening to people who insist on telling me about their astonishing and extraordinary life. Most of the time I do not believe them and I would much rather speak to the person behind the mask, the true person, the human behind the facade.
Don’t tell me who you think you ought to be. Be real. Tell me who you are.
If there is a secret to happiness it is acceptance.
If we bury ourselves under a pile of expectations of how our lives should be rather than as they are then we are most likely to be very unhappy indeed.
Step out from behind the mask and discover your True Self and let her shine.
Life isn’t easy, but we must listen to the voice of our true self the self we had before we were born, if we want to find meaning and happiness in our lives.
